Our Curriculum Intent
Our reception team start the journey for our children to be Happy, Confident, Achievers by providing a curriculum that builds block by block knowledge, skill and hands on experiences – igniting enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn.
We work closely with parents ensuring we know the children’s interests and needs to enable the children to explore and expand on their learning experiences with us. We follow the Early Years Foundation Curriculum and work towards the Early Learning Goals to make a good level of development by the end of the year.
Our Children experience and build upon their knowledge and skills to become:
Good communicators and have an expanse of language with which to communicate with.
Confident with their physical development manipulating their own bodies and equipment.
Personally, socially and emotionally equipped to manage themselves and the world around them.
Confident writers, readers, mathematicians, scientists, historians and geographers.
Every child in our school is unique and has different skills, knowledge and starting points and our curriculum is planned and executed enabling the children to learn by learning from others, playing and exploring with others, and investigating and being challenged to expand their critical and creative thinking. This is strategically managed through the makeup of a working day for our children: mornings: directed learning time leading to pm: exploratory learning – totally led by the child themselves.
