OFSTED INSPECTION – 17th/18th December, 2024

We were delighted to welcome an inspector into school for the first time since we joined Hornchurch Academy Trust. The report mentions:

“Shears Green Infant School is welcoming, pupils enjoy coming to school.”

“Relationships between adults and pupils are respectful and nurturing”

“Classrooms are purposeful places to learn”

“The school has high expectations for pupils’ achievement across a range of subjects.”

The latest inspection reports that the school has continued to maintain standards since the previous inspection. We believe that this is a fair reflection of school and are pleased that the hard work and commitment of staff, parents, governance and children have been recognised. All staff at Shears Green Infant School accept nothing less than the best for the children and this is reflected in the report.

Key highlights from the report include:

“The school places a strong emphasis on the teaching of reading … pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), read with increasing fluency”

“Staff teach children how to manage their feelings and to collaborate well with their classmates.”

“The school is determined that pupils with SEND will achieve well.”

“Pupils have positive attitudes to learning. Learning is not interrupted by any inappropriate behaviour”

“Trustees are very ambitious for the school. They understand what the school is doing well and what they need to do to make the school even better”
